Carbon fiber composite lattice solar panel frame for space applications

In 2016, IAMT (IAMT key division is SPbPU Computer-Aided Engineering Centre of Excellence - CompMechLab®) designed a carbon fiber composite lattice solar panel frame for space applications. The lightweight supporting structure is intended to replace three-layer honeycomb panels. The product was manufactured at Baltico facilities, IAMT partner.

This project has been demonstrated several times at industrial exhibitions, including INNOPROM-2016 forum. Composite panel was also demonstrated to Denis Manturov, the Minister of Trade and Industry, who visited SPbPU on November 7, 2016.

Technology: Digital additive production. Robot-assisted stacking of continuous fibers at the framework.
