solidThinking announces First European solidThinking Users Conference - Converge 2016 - which is to take place in Essen, Germany, on September 20-21

solidThinking, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Altair, is a leader in the development of Topology Optimization and Industrial Design Software. The company creates, develops and markets technology that helps users bring the most desirable products to their customers faster. solidThinking invites engineers, designers, architects and project managers to the CONVERGE 2016 European Conference to get acquainted with functions and features of solidThinking Inspire and Evolve software.

solidThinking Inspire enables users do fast and structurally efficient topology optimization of complicated structures using the predefined desing space and specifying boundary conditions and respective loads
Topology optimization of a bracket which was later manufactured by metal 3D printing Daimler uses solidThinking Inspire as a basic optimization tools in all of its 70 design bureaus all over the world

solidThinking Inspire enables engineers, designers and industrial designers to create and investigate structurally efficient concepts quickly and easily. Inspire uses the industry leading Altair OptiStruct® technology to generate design concepts. Inspire enhances traditional structural simulation process by generating a new material layout within a package space using the loads as an input. The software is easy to learn and works with existing CAD tools to help design structural parts right the first time, reducing costs, development time, material consumption and product weight. Inspire offers a number of topology optimization options: Optimization Objectives, Stress Constraints, Displacement Constraints, Eigenfrequences and Eigenmodes spectrum consideration. The software optimization capabilities are sought after in multiple industries including aerospace, automotive, heavy equipment, architecture and consumer products. Inspire is packaged with a material library including various aluminum, steel, magnesium, and titanium alloys with an ability to add user-defined materials. Inspire enables users to design a part directly ready for 3D-printing.

solidThinking Evolve helps to efficiently design and effectively render various objects from coffee pots to cars and motorcycles

solidThinking Evolve offers the ultimate hybrid modeling and rendering experience for industrial designers. Featuring cutting edge rendering technology, an enhanced user interface and a new PolyNURBS toolset, users may convert polymesh objects into NURBS curves and surfaces with a single click. solidThinking Evolve allows industrial designers to develop shapes faster, using either a Windows PC or Mac. The software captures an initial sketch, allowing exploration of styling alternatives and the visualization of products with high quality renderings generated in real time. Evolve combines the modeling freedom of organic surfaces and the control of parametric solids, releasing designers from the constraints of engineering oriented computer-aided design tools, while allowing the export of digital models required by a collaborative product development process.

solidThinking Evolve is a perfect tool for industrial designers which allows them to develop innovative and effective designs and complicated shapes

Part of the Conference program will be devoted to Click2Cast software - a new product in solidThinking portfolio. Click2Cast is specially developed for mold desingers as a simple and user-friendly tool to analyze die casting processes in details and to predict drawbacks of a mold being designed and respective defects of a casted parts. Click2Cast is easy to use and learn and helps users avoid typical casting defects such as air entrapment, porosity, cold shots, etc.

Click2Cast offers five easy steps to simulate the mold filling and predict possible defects. Click2Cast also automatically creates high quality finite element mesh, making the simulation model preparation process much easier for the user

The Conference program will cover design and development of innovative products with the use of cutting edge technology, address general challenges in the product creation process and represent advanced solutions. The agenda is complemented by several master classes, product demonstrations and an exhibition area. During the master classes attendees can learn more about how to design innovative, appealingly shaped and functional products, how to address the challenges of today's industrial design market, tools that enable a free design process, inspired by nature (organic design) and strategies for how to design the great products of today and tomorrow. In addition solidThinking will host a design exhibition that will showcase design examples by customers and conference presenters on 150 m² at the main level of the Red Dot Design Museum, where the evening event of the conference will also take place.

SAANA-Gebäude of Zollverein Essen famour architectural school, where the main CONVERGE 2016 events will take place Innovative arts Red Dot Design Museum, where the evening event of CONVERGE 2016 is scheduled. The Museum will also host an exhibition devoted to the Conference

The conference program includes high level talks by industry experts and designers such as: Il Hoon Roh, an internationally renowned artist and architect, Rafa Corell, CEO at Indigraf; Franko Cimatti, Head of Vehicle Concepts and Pre-development, Ferrari; Salome Galjaard from Arup; Franck Mouriaux from RUAG Space; Joachim Zettler from Airbus APWorks; Arjen Benders, Creative Director cross Business programs, Philips; Prof. Peter Zec, Initiator and CEO of Red Dot Design Museum and etc.

Taking part in the Conference, you will hear success stories from leaders across industries, discover new technologies, and leave with new insights toward product and experience design and development. As an event participant your input will be used to fuel a panel discussion around the excitement of design and technology converging for product development.

OptiStruct generates complicated lattice structures, which enable the part to become much lighter preserving its stiffness OptiStruct® is used by CAE engineers to optimize laminate composite structures which includes dozens of plies

It should be noted, that Altair’s specialists, including developers of OptiStruct software for multi-criteria topology optimization, will also take part in CONVERGE 2016. Besides optimization of isotropic structures, parts and assemblies, OptiStruct enables detailed, high-quality optimization of laminate composites, as well as enables users to generate complicated lattice structures. These unique solution based on topology optimization allows to generate lattice structures inside of a part for the further additive manufacturing. Lattice structures designed in OptiStruct help to produce parts with minimum weight and maximum strength and stiffness. OptiStruct is the market-leading solution for structural design and optimization in the automotive, aerospace, orthopaedics (light and durable biomedical implants) and turbomachinery industries. At the conference participants and visitors will be able to talk to Inspire and OptiStruct developers directly and ask their questions. The detailed agenda of the Conference can be downloaded here.

Essen is a significant industrial area in Germany; such well-known industrial enterprises as ThyssenKrup and RWE AG base their headquarters in Essen

CONVERGE 2016 will take place at the Sanaa-Building located on the "Zeche Zollverein" area in Essen, Germany, on September 20-21, 2016. The first day of the Conference will be finished by a gala dinner for all the participants, while after the second day's official program the attendees will be invited to take an excursion to a famous Zeche Zollverein coal mine memorial - former one of the largest and most productive mine in the world. The registration can be done by using this link, and is totally free for now.
