Simpleware products may be used for preparing accurate and reliable models for structural and CFD analysis, 3D CAD model generation, surgical operations planning, rapid prototyping (3D printing, additive manufacturing technologies), material engineering and technology, reverse engineering, safety and performance analysis or evaluating. 

Simpleware products are vastly used in medical and dental applications (biomechanics and orthopaedics, implant evaluation, physiological flows, cell mechanics), material science and geology (oil&gas applications, NDE, composite materials studying and effective properties evaluation, pore scale fluid flow) and natural sciences (palaeontology, archaeology, functional morphology, etc). 


Simpleware consists of several modules which can be coupled together by user's needs and are designed for various applications:

The basic module which offers software tools for 3D image data comprehensive processing (MRI, CT, micro-CT, FIB-SEM...) including visualization, analysis, segmentation, and quantification.  Segmented images can be exported both directly to STL files for further CAD processing or rapid prototyping systems and also imported to any finite element analysis system.

+FE module enables robust automated image-based meshing, providing a high quality solution for converting segmented 3D image data to multi-part 3D model. +FE generates 3D or 2D meshes, contact areas and material properties basing on segmented data. Generated meshes may be imported to any Finite Element (FE) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) packages. User may select between grid based and free meshing approach equally as mesh refinement.  

+CAD module is designed for CAD embodiment, operates from ScanIP and provides opportunities to integrate almost any CAD objects with 3D images. Module includes CAD objects positioning of complex implants for patient preoperative scanning and generating internal structures to reduce the weight of manufactured parts. 


+NURBS module provides a route from image data to Computer-Aided Design (CAD) packages by fitting Non-Uniform Rational B-Splines (NURBS) to surfaces. This module uses automatic NURBS patch fitting to ensure rapid conversion of segmented images into CAD-ready models. The model processed by +NURBS module can be further fully worked over and redesigned if needed in any commercial CAD software.

Physics modules
This package includes three modules: +SOLID, +FLOW and +LAPLACE. These modules help the user to calculate effective material properties from image data using FE-based homogenisation techniques. fast semi-analytical estimates or simulations in a built-in FE solver can be used to compute properties for samples (CT, micro-CT, FIB-SEM, MRI, etc.). Engineers can calculate effective linear elastic properties in +SOLID, absolute permeability in +FLOW and electrical/thermal/molecular properties in +LAPLACE module. Physics modules are available separately or as a bundle.
