SPbPU Computer-Aided Engineering Centre of Excellence

SPbPU Computer-Aided Engineering Centre of Excellence represents a joint project implemented by three entities:

  • St.Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU);
  • Computational Mechanics Laboratory, LLC (2006, spin-out company of SPbPU);
  • Polytech-Engineering, LLC (2011, start-up company, small innovative enterprise established in accordance with the Federal Law No. 217-FZ; founders: SPbPU (50%) and Computational Mechanics Laboratory, LLC (50%).

Competitive advantage and basis for the Centre – trans-discipline and supraindustrial super computer-aided engineering – is a fundamental basis and breakthrough technology for urgent development of globally competitive and in-demand products in shortest time in hi-tech industries, as well as product follow-up at all stages of product lifetime (from concept idea to recycling).

Computer-Aided Engineering Centre provides developments of rational mathematical, physical & mechanical and finite element models of high degree of adequacy to actual materials, physical & mechanical processes and structures, machinery, constructions, facilities and devices; it implements development of computational methods, calculation procedures, development and transfer of computer-aided and super computer-aided technologies, new generation technological chains aimed at creation of globally competitive products of a new generation.

The Centre acquired a wide range of the most advanced computer-aided and super computer-aided CAD/FEA/CFD/CAE/CAO technologies of world-class level, which development labor intensity totally exceeds 1 million man-years and which are used by all high-tech companies in the world.

SPbPU Computer-Aided Engineering Centre engineers have long-term and successful experience of fulfilling of order-based projects for national and foreign companies: Rostec, Rosatom, UAC, URSC, USC,UEC, Concern “Almaz-Antey”, Concern CSRI Elektropribor, Power Machines OJSC, AvtoVAZ, KAMAZ, ABB, Airbus, Boeing, BMW Group (BMW, MINI, Rolls-Royce), Daimler (Mercedes-Benz Cars, Daimler Trucks), Ferrari, General Electric, General Motors (Cadillac, Opel/ Hummer), LG Electronics, Schlumberger, Volkswagen Group (Audi, Bugatti, Porsche et al.) et al.

In 2014, Computer-Aided Engineering Centre engineers are being involved in a series of R&D activities of federal importance “Development of car body items and structural armoring components for domestic motor cars” by order from CRI of automotive and auto-motor institute “NAMI”.

SPbPU Computer-Aided Engineering Centre development were awarded the highest prize: Grand Prix on the “The Best Innovative Project” Contest and the Best Research Technical Study of the Year” within X St. Petersburg Technical Fair and XX International Exhibition & Congress “High technologies. Innovations. Investments” 2014.
